MSME / Udyam Registration Service
Looking for Udyam Registration Service with MSME Registration Consultant?
Udyam registration is the official government process for getting your business recognised as a Micro, Small or Medium Enterprise under the MSME Development Act. It replaced the old Udyog Aadhaar system in 2020 and is now the only valid way to obtain MSME status in India. The registration is completely free on the government portal, and the certificate it generates is a powerful document that unlocks a range of financial, legal and business benefits.
Whether you run a small manufacturing unit, a trading business or a service firm, if your investment and turnover falls within the prescribed limits, you qualify. Our msme registration consultant team handles the entire Udyam registration process on your behalf, quickly and accurately.
MSME Classification – Which Category Do You Fall In?
The MSME classification is based on two parameters, annual turnover and investment in plant and machinery or equipment. Both conditions must be satisfied together:
Micro Enterprise
- Investment up to Rs. 1 crore AND Turnover up to Rs. 5 crore
Small Enterprise
- Investment up to Rs. 10 crore AND Turnover up to Rs. 50 crore
Medium Enterprise
- Investment up to Rs. 50 crore AND Turnover up to Rs. 250 crore
Note: If either the investment or the turnover crosses the limit for a category, the business moves to the next higher category. Both parameters are considered together, not individually.
Why Udyam Registration Actually Matters
The Udyam certificate is not just a formality. Here is what your business actually gets access to after registration:

Frequently Asked Questions on MSME Registration Consultant
Udyam registration is not legally compulsory for every MSME. However it is practically essential. Without a valid Udyam certificate, a business cannot claim the benefits that comes with MSME status, including priority lending, government tender preference and protection under the MSMED Act for payment delays. Banks and financial institutions specifically ask for the Udyam certificate before processing MSME loans or schemes. In short, technically optional, practically necessary for any serious business in this category.
Any business entity that meets the investment and turnover criteria can register, including:
- Sole proprietorships and individual traders
- Partnership firms and LLPs
- Private Limited Companies and OPCs
- Hindu Undivided Families (HUFs)
- Self-help groups and co-operative societies
Any other legal entity engaged in manufacturing, trading or services
Udyam registration is a very light-document process. The primary requirement is the Aadhaar number of the proprietor, partner or director and the PAN of the business entity. The portal links directly with the Income Tax and GST databases to auto-populate financial details, so you do not have to manually upload financial statements or turnover certificates. For a proprietorship, the proprietor's Aadhaar is used. For companies and LLPs, the director's or designated partner's Aadhaar is used along with the company PAN.
Yes, the Udyam registration process on the official government portal at udyamregistration.gov.in is completely free. The government charges no fees for obtaining the Udyam certificate. Our professional assistance fees are separate and cover the filing assistance, document review and coordination. Be cautious of third-party websites that charges you for what is essentially a free government service, always verify that the application is being filed on the official portal.
Yes, and in fact GST registration is linked to the Udyam portal for turnover verification. If your business has a GSTIN, the portal automatically pulls your turnover figures from the GST database. If your business is not GST registered, either because turnover is below the threshold or because the business is in an exempt category, you can still complete Udyam registration by providing a self-declaration of turnover. Both GST-registered and non-registered businesses is eligible.
If your turnover or investment crosses the medium enterprise limit, meaning turnover above Rs. 250 crore or investment above Rs. 50 crore, your business will no longer qualify as an MSME. The Udyam portal updates classification automatically based on the ITR and GST data linked to your registration. When a business exceeds the MSME threshold, it transitions out of the MSME category and the associated benefits stops applying. For businesses approaching the threshold, it is worth planning this transition in advance with your CA.
The Udyam registration certificate has no fixed expiry date, it is valid until the business voluntarily cancels it or the portal automatically reclassifies or cancels it based on updated financial data from ITR or GST filings. However, the classification, Micro, Small or Medium, is updated every year based on the previous financial year's figures. This means your category can change from year to year depending on your turnover and investment, even if the registration itself stays active.
Trading businesses are eligible for Udyam registration under the service or trading category. Earlier, retail and wholesale traders were excluded from MSME benefits. However since 2021, the government has included retail and wholesale traders in the Udyam registration framework, primarily to give them access to priority sector lending from banks. So whether you runs a manufacturing unit, a service firm or a trading business, Udyam registration is available and beneficial.
